Princesses Pay It Forward

Karin’s Florist loves giving back to the community. Whether it’s through our Karin’s Gives Back program or the several times a year we donate flowers for a good cause, paying it forward is very important to us.

That’s why we were so pleasantly surprised to hear an amazing story of our most recent “Flowers For a Year” raffle winners who decided to pass on her gift to others.

At last year’s Karin’s Florist Open House celebration, the name “Carolynn Bane” was drawn out of a hat as the winner of our “Flowers For A Year” prize. That means, every month she receives a free, gorgeous floral arrangement from us. It’s a fabulous prize anyone would love to win and most likely use in their own home, right?

Well the lovely Carolynn Bane had a great idea: why not donate the monthly arrangements to her daughter Bailey Bane. She sent us an email about her:

“Bailey Bane started a business this summer, Vienna Singing Princesses. You may have seen them at any number of charitable events this summer and fall. They set up their big pink Vienna Singing Princesses canopy and donated their efforts—usually upwards of 16 costumed young talented high school students at once—braiding hair, painting faces, nail painting, reading stories, singing and dancing. They attended Optimists’ Family Fun Day on the green to benefit local kids with cancer, Cops&Kids Fun Run at Vienna Elementary for our local police force, Big Screen on the Green to support Vienna Parks&Recreation, PSV (Pediatric Specialists of Virginia) 5k at Reston Town Center to benefit kids with acute illness, Kids’ Halloween on the Green, Marshall Road Elementary Family Fun Night and the Vienna Halloween Parade. At several of these events, they raffled free birthday party events.  They volunteered last night at the Church Street Stroll with a meet and greet and posed for pictures—Elsa and Anna even brought Olaf along.

This is where Karin’s Florist Flowers for a Year fit in—beginning in June, my daughter would select the princess that had shown the most commitment to helping others and serving the community, the one who had given the most of herself—and we were able to send her flowers and a note saying why she was so special. This monthly award is so coveted, gives them the recognition they deserve, and inspires the group to keep giving. Thank you for being such a big part of all of our lives by providing beautiful young princesses beautiful flowers of gratitude this year.”

WOW! What an amazing organization doing so much good in our community. And WOW that unbeknownst to us until now, our flowers were being used to thank and recognize inspiring young women. And best of all, the Vienna Singing Princesses LOVE Disney just like us!! What a special surprise to find this group the same year Karin’s celebrates our Diamond Anniversary – 60 years in business , where we too hosted a Cinderella Dream Celebration anniversary party – with Cinderella, Prince Charming and a horse-drawn, flower-adorned carriage – and even gave away a pair of diamond earrings from Princess Jewelers!

Thank you for letting us be a part of your inspiring mission, Vienna Singing Princesses! We look forward to working with you more in the future… Keep up the amazing work!

MORE ABOUT THE VIENNA SINGING PRINCESSES

We are a group of students united by our love of musical and theatrical performance. All of our performers attend the local high schools (Madison, Marshall, and Woodson). We pride ourselves in our role of benefiting the community. Much of our time this past fall was spent volunteering at large public events in the town and surrounding areas. Many of the events we attended were to support children with acute illnesses and raise money for their treatment. We have also attended events in support of the town police force, among other things. We maintain a strong focus on diversity, and strive to represent role models that every little princess can relate to.
